Amy and Josh created an environment that was cozy and supportive, as well as focused and instructive. They walked us through the Hold Me Tight method, from terminology to application. Even after nearly five years of couples counseling, we left with new tools and tactics to try in our marriage.

What to Expect During the Workshop:

On the first morning, Amy will provide an introduction to Hold Me Tight by Sue Johnson, attachment theory and the neuroscience of love, including scientific research that supports the program's approach. This will be presented through a media presentation intermingled with video demonstrations, both short and long, to help reinforce the program's lessons.

During the Hold Me Tight® Workshop, couples will have the opportunity to complete six structured exercises in private. Amy will be available to assist you with these exercises if needed. These exercises, which involve conversations with your partner, are designed to build upon one another. They serve as the building blocks of the Emotionally Focused Couples Therapy Love Map, a method shown through research to reduce marital distress and increase satisfaction in many couples over the long term.

The presentation will be engaging; Josh and Amy will share some personal experiences of learning and applying Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) throughout our relationship. Some of the videos are also entertaining while demonstrating the concepts we are teaching. We will have some group discussions, but participation is completely voluntary, and no one will be singled out or asked to share in the group setting.

In this workshop, you will learn the root causes of most conflicts between you and your partner and how to transform these moments using a proven method that all couples can apply.

Testimonial

I enjoyed the one on one time where we were able to focus on just "us" with no distractions. We had great conversations and I really enjoyed the break-out sessions. You made us feel comfortable and safe and the venue was inviting. It was interesting to put a name/definition to pursuer and withdrawer. I found it enlightening and helped to give me a better understanding of myself and my partner.

Day 2 .......got me thinking and the conversations were much deeper.  You made hard things easier to discuss.....it made me realize that we can actually communicate when the emotions are settled.

Thank you for inviting us and sharing your home and expertise with us. You have had such a positive impact on both our lives and there are no words to describe that.
